Company registration in person more popular than online registration

Since the beginning of the year, 9,902 new companies have been founded in Serbia, which is an increase of 2.6 percent compared to the same period last year. However, only 3 percent of people register their companies online, although the Business Registers Agency (APR) does offer that possibility.

The data indicates that people still prefer coming in person to the offices of the APR, wait at the counter or send their registration documents by snail mail, despite being given an opportunity to do all of this online which is 30% cheaper.

Approximately 78 percent of new company owners submitted their company registration documents in person, coming to a counter at the APR’s Belgrade office, or one of the 13 of APR’s branch offices throughout the country, or through one of the 135 municipal offices with which the APR has established. cooperation. 19% of future entrepreneurs sent their registration documents by post, while only 3% of entrepreneurs submitted an electronic registration application.

The Business Registers Agency says that it will take time for the people to get accustomed to the new online service which was launched only six months ago.

“Most of them have no electronic signature and are not prone to using their cards for online payment.  This is what our survey conducted among entrepreneurs has shown. Interestingly, some of the survey participants said that they were aware of the online registration option, but they don’t mind coming to the APR’s offices in person because company registration procedure is simple and they get their tax number in one day”, says the APR.
