The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Economy, Adrijana Mesarović, met today in Guangzhou with the management of the Chinese company specialising in urban air mobility, EHang Holdings, with whom she discussed opportunities for cooperation with Serbia as part of preparations for the upcoming Expo in Belgrade.
At this event, the company could showcase various types of electric aircraft – from those providing air taxi services to aircraft used for firefighting and aerial transport.
The Minister extended an invitation to the company’s management to invest in Serbia and establish production facilities for the development of their solutions, while the Chinese manufacturer expressed interest in exchanging expertise and establishing long-term cooperation with the country in this field.
During a tour of the company, the Minister and members of the Serbian delegation had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the latest technological solutions in the field of air transport. Among the exhibits in the company’s showroom is the world’s first and only electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry passengers without a pilot.
This aircraft has received full certification – a type certificate, a production certificate, and a certificate of airworthiness – enabling its commercial use worldwide. Victoria Xiang, Chief Operating Officer for Europe and Latin America at EHang, stated that the company is the first in this sector to be listed on the stock exchange globally.
“This represents an important milestone in the history of aviation. We are leaders in urban air mobility technology, as well as in low-altitude aviation and the low-altitude economy worldwide,” said Xiang.
Xiang also noted that discussions are underway with the Serbian government so that the company could operate flights and provide air taxi services during the Expo. Following the visit, Serbia’s Ambassador to China, Maja Stefanović, had the opportunity to fly in one of the electric aircraft produced by this Chinese manufacturer, thereby becoming the first Serbian citizen to use the services of EHang.
EHang (EHang Holdings) is a Chinese technology company specialising in urban air mobility, focused on developing autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Its platforms are designed for short-distance passenger transport within cities and between urban areas, as well as for other civil applications such as logistics, emergency response, and smart city solutions (depending on the model and configuration).
