Chinese company to build Belgrade subway

The Serbian government has adopted several decrees including the Decree on the adoption of the content of the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the Serbian authorities, the City of Belgrade and the Chinese company, Power Construction Corporation of China in regard to the construction of the Belgrade subway.

The Memorandum of Understanding expresses “mutual intent for the continuation of the cooperation with the goal of implementing this important infrastructure project for Serbia”.

It remains unclear whether this means that the Chinese company has been selected as the main contractor on the project despite the fact that several other companies (from France and Russia) have also expressed interest in participating in the project.
