Norwegian company Emergy announced today that it has officially completed the sale of the Alibunar wind farm project, with a total installed capacity of 168 megawatts (MW), to the Chinese firm Heavy Energy International, noting that the new owner plans to begin construction works in the near future.
The Alibunar project, which comprises the Alibunar A and Alibunar B wind farms, was developed by Emergy and its Dutch-Belgian partner. It is expected to make a significant contribution to Serbia’s renewable energy and energy security objectives.
“The successful completion of this transaction represents a significant achievement for Emergy and our partners. We are proud to have developed the Alibunar project to this stage and to be handing over a high-quality, construction-ready project to Heavy Energy International. We look forward to the start of construction and to delivering clean energy to Serbia for decades to come,” said Jan-Philip Zuren, Chief Executive Officer of Emergy.
According to a statement published on its website, the transaction reflects Emergy’s strategy of developing large-scale wind and solar energy projects across South-East Europe, as well as its long-term commitment to the region’s energy transition.
Emergy is a Nordic renewable energy developer specialising in the development of large-scale wind and solar projects throughout South-East Europe.
The company’s focus is on identifying, developing and bringing projects to a construction-ready stage, after which they are typically transferred to investors or energy funds, according to media reports.
