The Chinese company Haitian, one of the global leaders in the production of CNC machines and high-pressure plastic injection moulding machines, plans to expand its production facility in Ruma by a further 50,000 square metres, the Municipality of Ruma has announced.
The new production complex is located in the Rumska Petlja industrial zone, where more than 64,000 m² of production space was built in the first phase on a total of 350,000 m² of land. The factory has already entered trial production, and the first machines have been successfully placed on European markets, including Italy.
Haitian currently employs around 100 workers in Ruma, while at full capacity, the number of employees is expected to triple. The company has announced that the expansion of production will also be accompanied by the development of a local supplier network, as well as cooperation with domestic partners.
“This is indeed one of the most technologically advanced factories in Serbia. This is not important only for Ruma, but for the entire country, because here we see technology for the 22nd century. Four years ago, when we held our first talks with the Chinese investor, there was a field at this location, at ‘Rumska petlja’, and today we have a factory that will very soon improve Ruma, as well as the whole country. The Haitian factory will represent a major step forward for Serbia, above all in terms of technological innovation. With full justification, I can say that this is the most significant investment in Ruma over the past four to five decades,” said the President of the Municipality of Ruma, Dušan Ljubišić.
He added that while investors are improving production, the local government is enhancing business conditions in the Rumska petlja industrial zone. In the first half of next year, a second layer of asphalt will be laid in the zone, thanks to funds from the Vojvodina Government. A training centre will also be launched at the Technical School in Ruma to meet the needs of this and other investors.
“The idea is for young people to stay in their own town and work, for good pay, in the most technologically developed and advanced plants. The arrival of Haitian also implies higher wages, as well as the engagement of subcontractors and local suppliers. Haitian will put Ruma on the global map of manufacturers of these machines, and the effects of their arrival will be truly visible in the years to come,” Dušan Ljubišić added.
