China’s JPAI to expand its production in Serbia

Concrete results of cooperation between Serbia and China are arriving from China’s largest industrial hub, Guangdong Province. A new investment in the furniture industry has already been announced, with the first step being taken by the company JPAI.

JPAI, which has been operating in Krnjaševci for years, is planning a new and significant investment in Serbia. This involves expanding its production capacities in the furniture industry, which would further strengthen the domestic sector and create opportunities for new jobs.

“Our goal is truly to further reinforce and strengthen that industry in Serbia, to attract their expertise, bring in new technologies, and become a leading European producer of high-tech, high-quality furniture,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović.

Alongside investments, exports are also growing. Serbian wines have already gained recognition on the Chinese market as one of the most competitive products, and winemakers expect further expansion.

“We have been cooperating with the People’s Republic of China for just under two years; we have exported two or three times so far. But today we are here, and I think it is a great opportunity to present our wines in this region, which has 150 million inhabitants and, so to speak, enormous potential. Serbia produces very high-quality wines,” said Mladen Ćirić, director of the Šapat winery.

Advanced technologies in focus

Cooperation is not limited to traditional industries. Advanced technologies are also in focus – the delegation visited EHang, one of the leaders in the development of autonomous aircraft and electric air taxis.

“This aircraft is the first and only electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle in the world designed for passenger transport without a pilot that has received full certification, enabling its commercial use worldwide. We have heard about Expo and it’s a major event. We are currently in talks with the government about conducting flights during the Expo and providing an air taxi service,” said Victoria Xiao, Chief Operating Officer for Europe and Latin America at EHang.

From furniture and wine to cutting-edge technologies, cooperation between Serbia and China is taking on an increasingly broad and tangible form, with expectations that it will deliver even more visible results in the period ahead.
