A concert by the renowned youth symphony orchestra, the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra, and the Children’s Philharmonic, entitled “Musical Encounter: USA and Serbia”, will take place on 5 July 2026 at 8 pm in the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall. Cellist Igor Ćetković, pianist David Božić, and Mihailo Marjanović on the bouzouki will perform as soloists.
This unique concert will bring together more than 100 young musicians from Serbia and the United States of America, who will present a programme composed of masterpieces from world orchestral literature. Under the conductors’ batons of Andrew Koehler and Ljubiša Jovanović, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy compositions by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Hristić, Rimsky-Korsakov, Charpentier, and others.
The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1939 and today stands as one of the oldest continuously active youth orchestral organisations in the United States of America. Through decades of work, it has built a reputation as a top-tier ensemble, held hundreds of concerts worldwide, and left a significant mark on the education and development of generations of young musicians.
The concert is organised by the We Are Singing music association in cooperation with ACFE. Admission is free.
