Cannes Film Festival winner to be screened at Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade

Award-winning films from festivals around the world will be screened at the 25th Festival of Auteur Film (FAF) from 22nd to 30th November in Belgrade.

The festival will take place in several cinemas and about 90 films will be screened during it.

The Festival’s twenty-fifth edition will open with the screening of the film “Parasite” by the famous South Korean director Bong Joon-ho, winner of this year’s Palme d’Or at Cannes. At the heart of this extraordinary comedy/drama/thriller lies the encounter and/or clash between the world of the rich and the poor.

Other films to be screened include a film by Israeli director Nadav Lapid, “Synonyms”, winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin, “Beanpole” by Kantemir Balagov, which takes place in the ruins of Leningrad after the Second World War (Un Certain Regard Award for Best Director), “It must be Heaven” by Elia Suleiman (Special Jury Prize in Cannes), “Martin Eden” by Pietro Marcello (Venice – Best Actor, Toronto – Best Film) and others.

Masa Senicicic, the creator of the Courageous Balkan festival programme, announced the screening of the film “Poslednija slika o ocu”, directed by Stefan Djordjevic, which won the prize for the best short film at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

The Festival segment “Bande à part” will represent the courageous voices of world cinema and the renowned names of world cinematography, including as Lav Diaz and Albert Serra.

The films will be screened at Kombank Dvorana, Dom Omladine, Kulturni Centar, the Yugoslav Film Archive Museum, the Fontana cinema, the Vlada Divljan Centre, Dom Kulture Studentski Grad and the Kolarac Endowment.
