Čadež:”Countries of Open Balkan initiative agree on free flow of basic foodstuffs”

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PKS), Marko Cadež, has said that the countries members of the Open Balkan initiative agreed in Tirana that there would be no ban on the trade in basic foodstuffs between Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia.

“We reached an agreement that is currently being drawn up and which we will sign in Belgrade at the next Open Balkans summit in September. Under this agreement, there will be no ban on the trade in flour, sugar and basic foodstuffs between the countries that are members of the Open Balkan (initiative). We will also map storage and production capacities in all three countries so we could assess our preparedness for a free flow of goods,” Čadež told the Serbian state TV (RTS).

He added the agreement would also encourage companies to enter into long-term contracts because they have the state’s guarantee that there will be no stoppages, and added that the agreement includes a provision of banning re-exports in order to avoid manipulation.

Čadež added that import and export taxes and duties between Serbia and Albania would be abolished too.
