Cadez: Reconsider the decision on lockdown during the next two weekends, the Serbian economy cannot afford it

The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Marko Cadez, has made an appeal, on behalf of the majority of companies in Serbia, to the members of the Crisis Response Team to remove the restrictions on the working hours of the majority of retail outlets, the Chamber announced.

“I am asking all the medical doctors who are members of the Crisis Response Team to reconsider the decision on the shortening of the working hours and the closing of retail outlets over the next two weekends ahead of the New Year’s holidays, because, trust me, the Serbian economy cannot afford it,” Cadez said.

He pointed out that the majority of Serbian companies generate the biggest revenue in December.

“The upcoming days, especially the upcoming two weekends, are crucial, because certain retail companies are already reporting a sale drop of 50% and some as much as 80%. If retailers are left without the planned revenue ahead of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, they will be forced to lay off employees and abandon the investments planned for 2021,” Cadez warned.
