The famous Russian theatre Bolshoi will perform ballet Swan Lake in Belgrade, at Cineplexx cinema in USCE Shopping Centre, on 5th February with Svetlana Zakharova as the principal dancer.
The Bolshoi Theatre is coming to Belgrade to kick off its 2017 season. This masterpiece by the famous Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is based on an old Russian folk tale called ‘The White Duck’, and it depicts the tragic love story between Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse, and Prince Siegfried. The ballet had its premiere on 4th March, 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Svetlana Zakharova takes on the role of Odette, while Denis Rodkin will play Prince Siegfried. Zakharova is a prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet and an étoile of the La Scala Theatre Ballet from Milan. She is also affectionately called “The Tsarina of Ballet”, and is generally thought of being one of the greatest ballet dancers of her generation, known for her technical expertise and great footwork. Denis Rodkin has been dancing for the Bolshoi Ballet since 2009, and is the youngest principle dancer at Bolshoi.
Bolshoi’s performance of Swan Lake is choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich, and based on the scenario by Vladimir Begichev and Vasily Geltser.
