The Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) assessed that the agreement on the improvement of election conditions, signed in the Serbian National Assembly by several political parties, legitimizes the collapse of electoral integrity.
BIRODI stated in a press release that the agreement concluded between the state authorities and opposition parties that did not accept foreign mediation in discussions about electoral conditions should have replaced the current Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) due to „many years of inappropriate activities“.
„With the signed agreement, Serbia now has a commissioner’s body that does the work of the REM, which members are also appointed members of the REM. The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption should investigate this matter to ascertain whether there is conflict of interest,“ the press release said.
Representatives of the Serbian Progressive Party, the Socialist Party of Serbia, Dveri, Dosta je Bilo, the Serbian Radical Party, the Movement for the Renewal of the Kingdom of Serbia, the Democratic Party of Serbia, Zavetnik and Zdrava Srbija have signed the agreement on improving electoral conditions last Friday.
