BELTALKS economic conference continues today in Belgrade

The 2nd BELTALKS: Belgrade Economic Talks conference, which began yesterday evening in Belgrade, gathering over 150 representatives from the business sector, international financial institutions, and experts from the region and Europe, continues today.

Speaking to participants at the forum yesterday evening, the Prime Minister of Serbia in a technical mandate, Đuro Macut, stated that Serbia will continue on its European path, but emphasized that citizens need a clear signal from Brussels in that process.

Senior Fellow at GLOBSEC and former Member of the European Parliament, Vladimir Bilčík, stated last night that this is the perfect moment to hold the BELTALKS conference in Belgrade. The two-day conference is organized by GLOBSEC, with a focus on economic cooperation, competitiveness, and the sustainable economic transformation of Europe.

According to the organizers, the conference takes place at a time when the European Union is adapting its policies to changing geopolitical and geoeconomic circumstances and seeking to further connect the Western Balkans with its market through the Growth Plan for the region and the Clean Industrial Deal, while new opportunities for cooperation and investment are also in focus following the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat.

In this process, strengthening economic cooperation with candidate countries represents one of the EU’s key strategic priorities, while the Western Balkan countries, alongside Ukraine and Moldova, continue reforms aimed at aligning with EU single market standards, boosting competitiveness, and enhancing economic and energy resilience.

The aim of these processes is to create a more integrated and competitive European economic area.
