The Belgrade Waterfront Company has announced the development of a new urban area called Belgrade Waterfront Marina, which will be located on the right bank of the Sava River, between the Ada Bridge and the future pedestrian bridge (the Old Railway Bridge).
The project includes the construction of a marina, public spaces, cultural facilities and transport infrastructure.
As part of the new development, the construction of a city marina in the area near Hall 1 is planned, along with a mixed-use tower approximately 120 metres high, as well as several other buildings. The marina, as announced, is also expected to include accompanying facilities such as a yacht club and an open-air swimming pool.
On the Sava bank in Novi Beograd, between the future pedestrian bridge and the Gazela Bridge, as is already known to the public, the construction of a panoramic wheel called the Belgrade Eye is also planned.
The project also envisages the extension of the Sava Promenade by 2.4 kilometres, all the way to Ada Ciganlija. Along the new route, pedestrian and cycling corridors are planned, as well as hospitality and public amenities.
The urban planning concept also envisages the creation of the so-called Green Line, a linear park that would connect Topčider Park with the new pedestrian bridge and park areas on both banks of the Sava. The plan also includes the conversion of Hall 1 into a cultural institution, which is intended to house an opera. A central square is planned in front of the building, while the future use of Halls 2 and 3 will be defined through a public architectural competition.
The transport infrastructure of the new development includes an avenue with two traffic lanes in each direction, pedestrian areas and tree-lined avenues, as well as the construction of an underground car park in the Belgrade Fair – Hall 1 zone, with additional parking capacity along the main roads.
