The University of Belgrade improved its position in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities and is now ranked best in the region.
In the just-published 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities, the University of Belgrade is ranked in the 301 – 400 band, while last year it was in the 401 – 500 band, Danas daily reported.
The University of Novi Sad retained its last year’s position in the 901 – 1000 band.
Of the universities in the region, this year’s surprise is the University of Ljubljana, which dropped out of the world’s top 500 higher education institution and is now in the 601 – 700 band.
The University of Zagreb has retained its position between 401st and 500th place in the ranking.
Harvard University topped the Academic Ranking of World Universities published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy for the 21st consecutive year, and is followed by Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Other top 10 universities include Cambridge, Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford, Columbia, Caltech and Chicago.
