Belgrade remembers Leonard Cohen

The forum titled “An open talk about a poet”, dedicated to the late Leonard Cohen, will take place at the main hall of Dom Omladine on Friday, 18th November.

Dragan Ambrozic from Dom Omladine and Vladimir Skocajic, the creator of the Gistro FM radio show, will have an interactive discussion with the audience about their personal experiences with the outstanding signer and his songs who was immensely significant for the popular culture.

The people like Cohen are few and far between because they touched many generations with their poetry. The long and tumultuous life of this singer from Montreal ended only a few days ago. Music critics have called him “one of the most fascinating and enigmatic singers of all time, second only to Bob Dylan”.

During the forum, the audience will be able to by Leonard Cohen’s novels – “The Favourite Game” and “Beautiful Losers” – at the Beopolis book store which is situated in the hall of Dom Omladine.

A small favour

Since 2013, Serbian Monitor has been offering to its readers carefully selected news about the Republic of Serbia, as a daily commitment stemming from the genuine desire to offer undistorted information about a country that is too often a victim of prejudice and superficiality. From November 2016, this service is available in English and Italian with a growing number of original articles with a goal of providing a complete picture of this Balkan country's economy, politics, culture and society. Our archive is completely free of charge, available to anyone who wants to get to know the country, to study its specific aspects, or to be constantly updated about it. This project will only be able to continue with the help of readers on whom we are calling to provide a small financial support so that we can continue supplying an increasingly expanding pool of information and original contributions.
