Austrian Stop.Shop to invest in Pozarevac

Austrian company Stop.Shop has bought land in Požarevac with the intent of building a retail park. This is the first major investment in Požarevac since the year 2000 which is supposed to create 300 new jobs.

The construction is due to start next year. The Austrian company had bought some land from the Arriva Company, and 80 acres from the City of Požarevac located in the town’s industrial zone. The retail park will span 10,000 square metres.

The town of Požarevac got 11.8 million Dinars for the land. Mayor Bane Spasović says that, considering the previous experiences of the Austrian investor, a retail park of that size should employ between 350 and 400 people.

“The town authorities are going to provide the required infrastructure according to the relevant spatial planning project including access roads and roundabouts”, the Head of the Požarevac Construction Directorate, Mitar Karadžić says.

The town has a few other locations suitable for investments, including 22 acres of land with business premises that used to belong to a sugar factory. At the moment, the town authorities are selling the northern part of the industrial zone.
