The Austrian factory Palfinger plans to start building a production plant in the southern town of Niš in 2023, says the city councillor Nenad Stankovic.
Palfinger has obtained 7 hectares of state land for this purpose, located in close proximity to the Zumtobel factory.
“The company wants to build a machine parts factory and employ 375 workers. The value of the investment is EUR 35 million. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the agreement was signed with the Serbian government and the Development Agency of Serbia on the allocation of state subsidies which marks the beginning of the implementation of this investment,” Stankovic adds.
In addition to this Austrian company, according to Stankovic, the Chinese company, Yusei Machinery, a supplier of components for Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems, which already operates in Nis, is building a factory here.
“The investment is valued at EUR 20 million. This greenfield investment entails the construction a 15,000-square-metre production facility in close proximity to the company Xingyu. The preparation for the construction is finished and the investor started building the facility in late June 2022. The second project phase entails the construction of a production facility of 10,000 m2. The company plans to employ a total of 150 workers in the first phase and 150 in the second phase”, Stanković added.
