As of September, Italian and Spanish studies at University of Novi Sad

The Department of Italian and Ibero-American Studies was formed at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Novi Sad at the end of June, and the first students are expected to enroll in Italian or Spanish studies in September.

Although the study modules received the highest marks and went as a supplement to the already accredited Language, Literature and Culture programme, the Ministry of Education’s approval came a little later, first for the master’s degree, and then for the basic studies of the Italian and Spanish languages, explains the Head of the Department, Dr Aleksandra Blatešić.

“All those students who have already enrolled in a study programme at the Faculty of Philosophy or Social and Human Sciences at one of the other universities in Serbia can also apply to study the Italian language, literature and culture and Spanish language, literature and culture, on 1st and 2nd September respectively,” says Dr Blatešić and adds that there are a total of 20 places for Italian and 30 for the Spanish language.

“We hope that later quotas will be even higher. Transfer from one study programme to another lasts from September 1 to 15. In October, graduate students can also apply for master’s studies in these two modules,” Dr Blatešić adds.
