On the occasion of the exhibition in Belgrade titled Identità Oltre Confine, staged from the Farnesina Collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, a workshop called Exhibitions Beyond Borders was held at the Italian Cultural Institute in the Serbian capital, was organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy and led by the curator Benedetta Carpi De Resmini.
The initiative forms part of activities promoting contemporary Italian art in Serbia, with the aim of exploring the organisational dynamics of international exhibitions, the mobility of artworks and best practices in transnational cultural cooperation. The workshop offered participants an opportunity for direct engagement with the curator, encouraging the exchange of expertise and dialogue between professionals from the Italian and Serbian cultural sectors.
Carpi De Resmini, together with the artist Silvia Giambrone, also met the public at an event titled Art Talks at the DOTS Gallery, where the exhibition Identità Oltre Confine is on display. During the event, Giambrone’s artistic work was presented, encompassing performance, installation, sculpture, video and sound. Through her works, Giambrone examined the visible and invisible traces of violence, processes of subject formation and the mechanisms of their normalisation.
“Culture represents one of the strongest pillars of the relationship between Italy and Serbia, as demonstrated by the success of exhibitions recently organised in Belgrade, such as ‘Luci del Seicento italiano nella Galleria Borghese’, ‘Tentativo’, ‘Connecting New Generations’, as well as the museum staff training project for Serbian museums carried out with MAXXI,” stated the Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, H.E. Luca Gori. “Through initiatives,” he added, “such as the ‘Art Talks’ symposium with the artist Silvia Giambrone and the workshop ‘Exhibitions Beyond Borders’ led by Carpi De Resmini, we strengthen a dialogue based on the sharing of cultural and exhibition expertise, in the belief that art is a privileged instrument of mutual understanding and of building lasting ties between our two countries.”
