One of the most renowned blues guitarists in the world, Ana Popovic will start her world tour in Belgrade, at Mikser House, on 14th January. After that, Ana is due to give concerts in The Netherlands and the US (Memphis).

Ana is the only guitar player from Europe to be nominated for the Debutante of the Year at Handy Awards, which is the blues counterpart of Oscar’s. In addition to many nominations and awards she won in Europe and America, Ana is often called ‘the female version of Jimmy Hendrix’ which speaks volumes about her reputation on the world’s blues scene. Even one of the biggest guitar manufacturers in the world, Fender has recognized her quality, and she is now the face of their brand.

Ana Popovic is anything but a run-of-the-mill blues guitarist. She is known for her passionate performances and is especially fond of playing in front of the Serbian audiences because she rarely gives concerts here.

This time around, she will present her new, the most ambitious album so far called ‘Trilogy’, which is actually three albums in one. The album has 23 funk, rock, blues and jazz songs which have been produced by the Grammy-winning producers Tom Hambridge. Warren Riker, and Delfeayo Marsalis who also worked with Lauren Hill and Carlos Santana.

“I am really happy to be given an opportunity to present Trilogy, my new album, to the Belgrade audience”, Popovic says ahead of her Belgrade concert.

A small favour

Since 2013, Serbian Monitor has been offering to its readers carefully selected news about the Republic of Serbia, as a daily commitment stemming from the genuine desire to offer undistorted information about a country that is too often a victim of prejudice and superficiality. From November 2016, this service is available in English and Italian with a growing number of original articles with a goal of providing a complete picture of this Balkan country's economy, politics, culture and society. Our archive is completely free of charge, available to anyone who wants to get to know the country, to study its specific aspects, or to be constantly updated about it. This project will only be able to continue with the help of readers on whom we are calling to provide a small financial support so that we can continue supplying an increasingly expanding pool of information and original contributions.
