Two-thirds of the companies that are members of the American Chamber of Commerce plan to invest further in Serbia, which speaks to their expectation of rapid economic recovery after the end of the pandemic.
This is evidenced by the results of the Chamber’s annual survey on investor confidence and satisfaction presented at the online conference, “Eight Elapsed Time: E-progress”.
“More than half of companies, 56 per cent, expect higher business volume and growth in 2021, while 30 per cent plan new hires,” it was said at the conference. “Compared to the expectations from 2019, 20% fewer companies believe they will record growth and 30% of them have lower expectations in terms of employment.”

Employment this year, as stated, has not been reduced thanks to help from the Serbian government. 70% of companies see the biggest challenge in the unpredictability of the pandemic while 82% think that state aid will be needed in 2021 as well. Chamber members also believe that support should be directed to the most affected sectors of the economy.
