Chairman of the Assembly of the Gas Association in Serbia, Vojislav Vuletic, said today that there was no prospect of starting construction of the Serbian leg of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, because “America is against it.”
“At this time, the construction of the Serbian leg of the Turkish Stream pipeline can’t go ahead because America is not allowing it and is offering its own gas produced from shale which would be supplied to Europe in liquid state,” he said. The Turkish Stream is designed to transport Russian natural gas to Europe through the Balkans.
The Serbian Energy Agency (AERS) has given the Russian-Serbian Gaztrans permission to build the pipeline which would connect to the Bulgarian pipeline at the Serbian town of Zajecar and would continue into Hungary at Horgos. The AERS has requested an opinion from the Energy Community which wants permission for other gas suppliers to use the pipeline to be built by Gaztrans.

Vuletic said the Energy Community demand “just clouds the conditions even more”, adding that they are insisting on other suppliers being allowed access at five points along the pipeline.
He added the US cannot provide sufficient supplies of gas to Europe which has to rely on Russia to meet its needs.
Vuletic recalls that, last year, Americans “imported gas from Russia to heat their citizens as the temperatures, especially around Boston, plummeted. This means that they do not have enough gas for themselves, but do want to make it impossible for Russia to earn money from selling oil and gas, and ultimately remove President Putin from power.”
According to Vuletic, the largest gas deposits in the world are found in South Fars in Iran, towards the border with Qatar, from which Qatar gets its gas supplies.
“In 2011, Iran, Syria and Iraq signed an agreement stipulating construction of the Islamic gas pipeline, while at the same time, Qatar and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement to build the Arabic gas pipeline that would supply Europe with gas. However, the Americans prevented the construction through political means, by declaring the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad dictator and ultimately supporting the uprising against him”, Vuletic said.
According to Vuletic, the Americans “stifle anyone who is successful in order to make themselves more successful.. For instance, with the help of the Bulgarian president, Boyko Borisov, they stopped the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline in this part of the world.
