The founder of the Tijana Jurić Foundation and the director of the Centre for Missing and Abused Children, Igor Jurić, said that he expected that the Amber Alert system could become operational even before the official deadline, on 1 November.
“The team working on the implementation of the Amber alert system is efficient and the third meeting has already been scheduled for the beginning of May, which shows that everything announced and signed by the Minister of the Interior, Bratislav Gašić, will be fulfilled,” said Jurić for Tanjug news agency.
To remind, Jurić’s 15-year-old daughter Tijana was abducted, raped and killed in 2014 by a local butcher. Since then, her father has been tirelessly campaigning for the implementation of the Amber Alert system.
Amber Alert or a child abduction emergency alert is a message distributed by a child abduction alert system asking the public for help in finding abducted children. The system originated in the United States and is named after nine-year-old girl Amber Rene Hagerman, who was abducted and murdered in 1996.
