A total of 130 European films will be screened during the 26th European Film Festival in Palić and Subotica, which will take place from July 20th to 26th. The new film by Pedro Almodovar “Dolor y Gloria” (“Pride and Glory”) will officially open the Festival.
The Palić Film Festival traditionally takes place in several locations, including a summer stage in Palić, as well as in the cinemas Eurocinema, Abazija and Lifka. Part of the Festival’s programme is also showcased at the Fontana cinema in Belgrade.
In addition to Almodovar’s film, the audience will be able to see two other screenings outside the competition programme.
The festival’s selector, Nenad Dukic, said that the audiences would also see the film “Sorry, we missed you” by Ken Loach and “Young Ahmed” by the Dardenne brothers.
Dukic says that the 2019 festival is all about a good balance between new films by famous filmmakers and films by young filmmakers with great potential.
“We have the best of the European cinema in Palić this year, including the world premiere of the film “Ajvar” directed by Ana Maria Rossi, with Natasa Ninkovic and Sergej Trifunovic in the main roles,” Dukic added.
Audiences will also be able to see the best Slovenian film of 2018, “Neću da budem luzerka”, directed by Ursa Menart. This is a comedy that follows the life of Spela, an art historian in an attempt to become independent and grow up.
At the final evening of the Festival, the jury will give out the Gorki List Awards for the best film chosen by the audience.
