A summer blockbuster “Where the Crawdads Sing” coming to Serbia soon

The film “Where the Crawdads Sing” (Serbian title – “Tamo gde rakovi pevaju”) has been storming cinemas since its opening last weekend in America. Viewers and critics alike agree that one does not have to have read Delia Owens’ bestseller to love this film, which arrives in cinemas in Serbia on 18 August.

The novel was adapted by Reese Witherspoon’s production company, is directed by Olivia Newman and written by Lucy Alibar. The main character of Kya is played by young actress Daisy Edgar-Jones. The production also stars Taylor John Smith as Tate Walker, Harris Dickinson as Chase Andrews, Michael Hyatt as Mabel, Sterling Macer Jr. as Jumpin and David Russell Strathern as Tom Milton.

The film is based on the eponymous book “Where the Crawdads Sing”. This is a 2018 coming-of-age murder mystery novel which follows two timelines that slowly intertwine.

The first timeline describes the life and adventures of a young girl named Kya as she grows up isolated in the marshes of North Carolina. The second timeline follows an investigation into the apparent murder of Chase Andrews, a local celebrity of Barkley Cove, a fictional coastal town in North Carolina.

By July 2022, the book had sold over 15 million copies, making it one of the best-selling books of all time.
