The Embassy of Italy in Belgrade has published a guide to EXPO 2027: a handbook to help readers make the most of all the opportunities offered by the event, available to download here.
A guide designed to enable Italian businesses, institutions, associations and individual professionals to learn about the opportunities offered by Expo 2027 in Belgrade, supporting them in taking part in an event that has already confirmed exhibitors from 130 countries and helping them to make the most of it in terms of visibility, commercial and institutional contacts, the development of relationships and the exchange of experience, so that they can compete on a stage that is no longer merely national or continental, but inevitably global.
Italy is placing strong emphasis on EXPO 2027 in Belgrade. It is doing so because the themes that will be explored – Play, Sport and Music – are deeply embedded in Italian national identity; because geographical proximity offers many Italian organisations the chance to take part in an EXPO 2027 for the first time in their history; because the role Italy has long carved out for itself in the Balkan region is also characterised by its commitment to culture and social development; because relations between the two countries are excellent and Italy has consistently and loyally supported Serbia’s path towards the European Union, in respect of a country which, mindful of Yugoslavia, seeks to maintain relations of trust and cooperation with all geographical areas of the world.
“Playing for Humanity – Sport and Music for All” is the overarching theme, capable of generating multiple interpretations. Italy will focus its participation on the sub-theme “Play together”, adopting a participatory and inclusive approach that will shape the national pavilion: almost one thousand square metres that will serve as a vibrant space for meeting, play, performance and experimentation, aimed at consolidating existing collaborations and establishing new ones in areas where Italy can take a leading role thanks to its history, expertise and creativity. From music to sport, from art inspired by competition or games of chance, Italy will present stories, current and past champions, artistic masterpieces, musicians and singers who have shown how creativity and sporting success spring from the play that captivated them as children.
Socio-cultural development and technological progress will be interwoven themes, as gamification, Artificial Intelligence with its simulation capabilities, and playful methodologies have opened up new horizons for education, scientific research and the stimulation of creative thinking. New technologies based on next-generation Visual Language Models (GPT-4V, Gemini, Claude 3 Opus and open-source systems such as LLaVA or Qwen 2.5 VL) make it possible to experience historical moments and civilisations distant in time and space, helping to foster understanding of cultural diversity and historical periods. This is why particular attention will be paid to the most contemporary and innovative trends and expressions in Italian culture and research, in order to promote an image of the country that goes beyond the most trivial stereotypes. Considerable space will also be devoted to sports diplomacy, which, in a country of great sportspeople such as Serbia, will be one of the main guiding principles of Italy’s presence.
There are numerous ways to take part in EXPO 2027. For this reason, the guide is an essential tool for beginning to understand the opportunities available and the most suitable forms of participation for different types of exhibitors.
