2,005 building permits were issued in July this year, which is 8.9% less than in the same period last year, announced the State Statistical Office. Of the total number of permits issued in July, 81.3% refers to permits for buildings and 18.7% to other types of facilities.
In regard to the permits issued for buildings, 70.4% of permits were issued for residential buildings and 29.6% for non-residential buildings, while the rest relate to pipelines, communications and power lines (77.3 %).
According to permits issued in July 2020, the construction of 2,375 apartments has been reported, with an average size of 71.3 square metres.

Of the total number of apartments in new residential buildings, 10.9% will be built in single-apartment buildings, with an average size of 146.5 square metres, while 87.6% of the apartments will be built in buildings with three or more apartments, and their average surface area will be considerably smaller and will amount to 61.1 square metres.
The expected value of new construction works in July 2020 is 82.2% of the total expected value of the works.
As published on the website of the State Statistical Office, higher construction activity is recorded in the Central Banat region in Vojvodina (tantamount to 18.8% of the expected value of new buildings), then in the Belgrade region (18.2%) and Šumadija (9.1 %).
The share of other regions in the overall data varies from 0.6% to 6.3%.
