794 fewer babies born in Serbia than in the first ten months of last year

“Since the beginning of the year, 794 fewer children have been born in Serbia than in the first ten months of 2020, and if current demographic trends continue, Serbia will have less than 5 million inhabitants by 2050,” warned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Secretary for Family Welfare and Demography, Milka Milovanović Minić.

During her visit to Bac and Backi Petrovac, she said that Serbia currently has fewer than 7 million inhabitants, and announced that, after visiting all local administrations in Serbia, her department would propose measures that should help improve the country’s poor demographic picture in a coordinated manner and in relation to the specifics of the environment.
