40% of German companies in Serbia will increase their investments

40% of the German companies in Serbia plan to increase their investments, which is 6 percent more than in 2023, according to the results of the research presented by the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK).

Six percent of companies are dissatisfied with the current developments, the same as in 2023, and overall expectations for the next period have decreased, but are not negative.

A decrease in investments was announced by 22 percent of Chamber members, which is nine percent more than last year.

Among the surveyed companies, 39 percent believe that they have good operating conditions in Serbia, which is a decrease compared to 2022, when 52 percent said so.

“The results of the survey show that Serbia still offers attractive investment conditions, but according to the current economic circumstances and global challenges, the priorities of many companies are shifting,” said the executive member of the Board of Directors of AHK Serbia, Alexander Marcus.

According to AHK, the trade between Serbia and Germany increased by 13 percent in 2023, amounting to record-breaking 9 billion euros.

More than 900 companies with German capital operate in Serbia and have created around 90,000 new jobs so far.

This year, around 37 percent of companies plan to hire new employees, which is 7 percent less than in 2023, while 52 percent of companies will not change the number of employees.

Also, about 10 percent of them expect a reduction in the number of employees in their companies, which is 7 percent more than in 2023.
