39th Belgrade Marathon on 18 and 19 April

The Powerade Belgrade Marathon will take place for the 39th time on 18 and 19 April, when a running spectacle will be staged for all participants on the streets of the Serbian capital, organisers from the Belgrade Marathon announced.

For the first time, the Belgrade Marathon will last two days, as all races will be held separately. The half-marathon is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, 18 April, the 10-kilometre race will take place the same day from 6 p.m., while the marathon will be run on Sunday morning, 19 April.

“That is not the only novelty we will have this year. A new course has also been prepared, with both the start and finish at Republic Square,” announced Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon.

According to him, the routes for the 10 km, 21 km and 42 km races will not overlap.

“This will bring a completely new experience for all runners in every sense, while also enabling significantly better and more efficient traffic flow, given that no part of the city will be closed for more than half an hour. From an organisational standpoint, this is truly a major step forward, partly made possible by the introduction of modern technology,” he said.

Habuš added that more than 15,000 runners are expected, which would once again set a new participation record, and that the marathon race will also serve as the Balkan Championship and the National Championship over the 42-kilometre distance.
