27.2% more building permits issued in February 2020 compared to February 2019

In February 2020, 1,420 building permits were issued, an increase of 27.2% over the same month of the previous year, reported the State Statistical Office (RZS). When analyzed by type of construction, 74% of permits are for buildings and 26% for other constructions.

If we look only at buildings, 62.6% refer to residential facilities and 37.4% to non-residential facilities, while other facilities are mostly pipelines, communication and electrical lines (59.9%). According to the permits issued in February, 2,720 flats with an average area of 65.5 square metres were built in Serbia.

The index of the expected value of the construction works in February decreased by 7.1% compared to the same month last year. The estimated value of new construction works in February is 73.5% of the total estimated value of the works.

Viewed by area, the largest construction activity is expected in the Belgrade area, i.e. 34.2% of the expected value of new construction.
