16,375 high school graduates apply to study at Belgrade University – IT most in demand

The University of Belgrade announced today that a total of 16,735 candidates have applied for this year’s studies, competing for 15,283 places.

The total number of applications is 25,520, which means that many candidates have decided to apply for two or more study programmes at the same faculty, according Dejan Filipović, the Vice-Rector for Education at the University of Belgrade.

“High school graduates have shown the biggest interest in studying at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON), with more than 2,053 applicants, followed by the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF),” the University’s report highlights.

The most popular study programs are those related to the IT sector and medical sciences, where more candidates have applied than there are available spots for freshmen.

Additionally, the greatest interest in social studies and humanities is for Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy, where 525 candidates have applied for 116 places, followed by Dentistry study programme at the Faculty of Dentistry, where 710 candidates have applied for 220 places, and Management at FON, where 902 candidates have applied for 390 places.

Next is Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, where 525 candidates have applied for 240 places, followed by Molecular Biology and Physiology at the Faculty of Biology, where 162 candidates are competing for 80 places.

In relation to the number of freshmen they admit, the fewest high school graduates have applied to study at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, the Technical Faculty in Bor, the Faculty of Forestry, and faculties in the natural sciences group such as the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of Geography.
