10th Kustendorf Festival from 14th to 19th January

The 10th international film and music festival, Kustendorf will take place in Drvengrad, on the Mokra Gora Mountain, from 14th to 19th January, 2017.

Production company Rasta International is the festival’s organizer while the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information, Mećavnik Town and TNSO are its patrons. Just like every year, the Küstendorf festival is dedicated to the up and coming directors, and the most prominent auteur film figures.

A total of twenty two Serbian and foreign films will compete for the Küstendorf Film Awards – Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg. The films come from Bulgaria, Denmark, Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Hungary, Moldova, Nepal, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, the Republic of Srpska, Serbia, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Montenegro, Chile, Switzerland and the Philippines.

In the Contemporary Trends section, some of the best films from last year’s production will be showcased and presented by their authors, who are the festival’s official guests, at the workshops after the screenings. The following films will be showcased at the Festival: the winner of last year’s Venice Film Festival, “The Woman Who Left” directed by Lav Diaz, “In Bed with Victoria” directed by Justine Triet which will be presented by young actress Virginie Efira, “The Flowers of Evil” directed by Antti Jokinen, Chinese film “De Lan” directed by Liu Jie which won the Best Feature Film award at the Shanghai Film Festival, and “Soul on a String” directed by Chinese photographer Guo Daming.

Also, “On the Milky Road”, the latest film by director Emir Kusturica who is also the Festival’s founder, will be screened at the Festival.

After film screenings and workshops, the Festival guests will be able to enjoy the infamous entertainment programme at Küstendorf. Emir Kusturica himself and TNSO, along with Adam Sting and the Novi Sad Big Band Orchestra will be in charge of good atmosphere, plus there will be performances by the celebrated jazz guitarist Ana Popovic, Serbian rock band Van Gogh, and the Argentine-Columbian ska-punk band Che Sudaka.
