In the first nine months of this year, Serbia had 2,673,397 tourists, of which 1,326,350 were foreign tourists, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has said.
Traditionally, the most visited places are the cities of Belgrade and Novi Sad and spa towns, which were visited by 491,377 tourists in the period from January to September 2018.
Tourists were also most interested in visiting Vrnjacka Banja and Sokobanja, and the mountains Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Tara and Mokra Gora.

The biggest number of foreign tourists came from Bosnia and Herzegovina (88,324), Turkey (85,257), Germany (72,818), Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and even 641 tourists from Iceland.
In September this year, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 11.1 per cent, and the number of overnight stays went up by 11.9 per cent compared to the same month last year.
“In September 2018, relative to September 2017, the number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 10.3 per cent, and the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 14.2 per cent,” the Statistical Office reports.
